Frequently Asked Questions

How are airbrush tattoos applied?

First the area where it will be applied to is cleaned with alcohol.  Then, using a stencil and an airbrush, the design
is sprayed onto the skin.  Finally a dusting of powder and you are ready to go.  The whole process takes less than
    3 minutes.

How long does an airbrush tattoo last?

Our Airbrush Tattoos will last an average of 4 to 6 days depending on where it is placed, your skin type, what
activities you do, and how you care for it.  There are certain things that you can do to make them last as long as
    possible:

  • Choose an area of your body that won't get rubbed by clothing (such as the waistband area) or get laid on
while you are sleeping (such as the back of your neck if you are a back sleeper or your left arm if you sleep
    on that side.)

  • Tattoos are very water-resistant, but they will rub off.  When showering, wash around the area, and pat
    gently when toweling off.

  • Tattoos are removable with alcohol or oil.  If you consume a lot of alcohol, you will sweat it out of your
pores and it will shorten the life of your tattoo.  Also, body oil will loosen the paint from your skin, so apply
powder or cornstarch to it at least twice a day, and after showering or swimming, or if you get sweaty.

  • While the paint that we use is waterproof, meaning it won't simply wash off in the water, a prolonged
swimming session may shorten the lifespan of the design by weakening the bond of the paint to the skin.
We apply 2 layers of clear temporary tattoo paint to every tattoo which greatly helps the tattoo resist the
ravages of chlorinated pool water and to help keep the skin from becoming waterlogged.

  • Avoid direct contact with lotion, oils, alcohol, or soap.

  • Humid conditions will affect the life of the tattoo.  The paint is very resistant to external moisture but
when sweat and oil come up through your skin under the tattoo, you will notice small areas surrounding
your pores that will be missing paint. You will find that here in the Midwest, the same tattoo will last a lot
longer on your skin in October than they do in July.  Powder frequently with baby powder or cornstarch.
Do not use cosmetic powder as these types of products contain mineral oils that can reduce the longevity of
    your body art.

Why would I want to get a temporary tattoo instead of a real one?

Some designs you might want to have on you forever but some things are fun just for a little while, such as a
heart with the name of your new boyfriend or girlfriend under it.  Airbrush temporary tattoos have changed the
concept of body art from being a commitment that you live with for the rest of your life to more of a cosmetic
that you have for a little while that you can change whenever you want like jewelry, nail polish, or eye shadow.
(Sorry guys, I couldn't think of any analogies that weren't female oriented!)

So, are these only for girls?

No more than permanent tattoos are only for girls. :-)

What kind of paint do you use?

Our temporary tattoo inks were specifically created for application on the skin.  They are designed to be long-
lasting, extremely water-resistant, come in a wide variety of colors, are made of all FDA approved cosmetic
    ingredients, and dry instantly.

Is this anything like Henna (Mehndi) tattoos?

No.  While we have a lot of respect for the art of Mehndi, and have even purchased them before for ourselves, we
have chosen to use temporary tattoo paint as our medium, since it has a lot of advantages over Henna:

  • Henna is limited to one color only (russet-brown in varying shades and intensities) but temporary tattoo
paint is available in a wide spectrum of colors and shades.

  • Henna takes a long time to apply, and temporary tattoo paint takes just a minute or two, depending on the
size of the design applied, making it a lot more adaptable to a wider age group.

  • Henna tattoos cost a lot more because of the length of time required to apply it.

  • Henna is primarily a woman's art, while airbrush temporary tattoo's are equally appealing to men and
    women.

  • Henna takes about half an hour to fully dry, and has to remain on the skin for at least 4 hours for
maximum benefit before removing the thick crust that puts the stain on your skin.  Temporary tattoos dry
immediately and are instantly ready to be "shown off."

  • Henna tattoos can last a lot longer, sometimes up to one month depending on the part of the body they are
applied to, and you can't remove them whenever you want.  For some, this is a benefit over airbrush
tattoo's. But for others, such as people who want something just for the weekend but need to look
professional on Monday morning, the fact that henna can't be removed is a definite drawback.  Airbrush
tattoo's can be removed at anytime with oil or alcohol.

What are the advantages of airbrush temporary tattoos over "rub-on" temporary tattoo's?

Airbrush temporary tattoos are far more realistic looking because there is only paint and your skin.  Rub-ons are
printed on a thin layer of plastic, and adhere to your skin with a medical grade adhesive.  Airbrush Tattoos last
longer, come in your choice of colors, and do not leave a glue residue for you to fight with once the tattoo is
    removed.

Does it hurt to get an airbrush tattoo?

No, though it may tickle a little bit!

Do you do real tattoos also?

No, just the "real" airbrush kind!

My child really wants to have you come to his birthday party, but we are a low income family and I really
can't afford it.  Are there any options for me?

Yes, we are happy to work with low income families.  We have been there ourselves, and we don't want any child
who wants to have a special Birthday Party to be excluded due to income limitations.  We offer sliding scale fees,
and are happy to trade or barter for services.  Contact us for more information by e-mail or call us at 816-810-
